For Tre

My current project, Policing Gender, explores trans and queer identities in the context of mass incarceration.

The large-scale photographs of fabrics in this series are meditations on absence—people missing from our community, missing from history, absent from view.

A new gallery of images and audio recordings will be available in Winter 2015.

This project has been made possible by a generous grant from the Regional Arts and Culture Council of Portland, studio space and mentorship from David Straub, the styling expertise of Katie Barton and Jack Stocklynn, knowledge and warmth from the Black and Pink family, and the courageous, selfless, generosity of the people who have shared their stories.
